President Murmu expresses grief over demise of playback singer S Janaki Amma

 

President Droupadi Murmu has expressed grief over the demise of playback singer S Janaki Amma. In a social media post, the President said that the country has lost a musical icon. The President added that S. Janaki Amma’s extraordinary singing enthralled generations. President Murmu said S. Janaki Amma’s illustrious career spanned more than six decades, during which she recorded thousands of songs in nearly 20 Indian languages, including Hindi, Odia, Tulu, Urdu, Punjabi and Bengali. The President said that her timeless music will always remain valuable.
